Montrose Cunningham serves as the Community Outreach Coordinator for Houston Community College Northwest. He’s a Chicago native, raised in Dallas, Tx. Montrose earned his bachelor’s in Radio-Television from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and his master’s in marketing from Texas A&M University, Commerce. He began his career as a reporter and assignments editor at KRLD News Radio 1080 in Dallas and then moved into public relations, serving as the assistant public information officer for the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), Dallas. After 14 years at TxDOT, Montrose spent several years as a professional musician and later worked in various roles in digital marketing, writing, and social media for Dallas College, The Idyllic Agency, and The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition.

Montrose moved to Tomball, Texas with his wife and two daughters in 2015 and began working at HCC in 2016. In his spare time Montrose enjoys spending time with his family, enjoying all facets of the arts, and working out. He’s an avid marathon runner and is a member of the running group Black Men Run Houston, with whom he also volunteers for events throughout the Houston area promoting health and wellness and projects benefitting the homeless and disabled veterans.
