Freddy Hurst served as the WHLI Board Chair from 2004 until his untimely death on October 29th, 2013. Originally from Haskell, Oklahoma, Freddy graduated from Oklahoma State University with his MBA in 1976 and Rutgers Graduate School of Banking in 1983. Freddy arrived in Houston in 1993 and enjoyed a lifelong career in banking and at the time of his death served as Bank Office President, Allegiance Bank–Woodway. As a banker and passionate volunteer, Freddy was extremely active in the community but his proudest contribution was his role in the founding of the West Houston Leadership Institute. He served on the board of the West Houston Medical Center, the Gulf Coast Division Advisory Board of the Hospital Corporation of America and was active in the West Houston Chamber of Commerce.
